The experts give a damning verdict, web users are profoundly bored and communicators are clearly perplexed. In a digital universe in rapid expansion, corporate websites are starting to look like dinosaurs. Outdated, forbidding, unsuitable. Having become a grab-bag for anything and everything, from press releases to PDFs analysing technical processes, discovering their purpose has become as difficult as finding your way around. And dressing them up in bright new digital clothes to give them an air of modernity doesn’t always do the trick. According to Webtrends, 70 of the world’s hundred largest companies have seen a fall in traffic on their websites. What is worse, less than 20% of 1,000 websites surveyed by the Comprend research institute, a specialist in digital communications, meet their users’ expectations in terms of transparency and dialogue.
